Tina, here.

Don't wear red? I really don't either. At least not next to my face. So here, my lovely valentines, are some pretty red alternatives for you to wear this month. And in case you missed our post on how to wear red the right way, for those of you who do wear red, you can read it here.

1. Blush and Black

Of course you know I do not like red (or any primary color) paired next to black, but blush is different. It does work next to black. Blush, dolls, not hot pink or fuchsia pink, but the palest of blush pink.

I don't mind a touch of red, especially when it's the red sole of certain shoe. It's like a subtle wink that satisfies a knowing few.

I'm usually going to choose gold jewelry to complement pink. In fact, gold tone jewelry is warmer than silver, which can be quite a bit more flattering to our skin tone as we lose pigment. Silver jewelry works well for women with jet black hair or that gorgeous silver fox hair I hope my strands turn into one day.

2. Plum

Plum is technically a shade of violet, which are both shades of purple. Red is just red. There are 3 primary colors: red, yellow and blue. Secondary colors are combinations of primary colors, like red + blue make violet. I like these colors that are more saturated and have more depth, like plum or violet.

Plum works with most skin tones and hair colors because secondary and tertiary colors tend to be have more depth and be more interesting and flattering than primary colors. To shop a beautiful plum blouse (that drapes down the back and is so feminine - a great date night top), members check out the February Style Vault. 3. Pink Accessories

These heels are the palest shade of pink - with a coral heel. And VERY high heels at that. Hence the padded footbed. Rose quartz, as we all know by now, is the color of the year, so get you some pretty accessories in this shade like my drop earrings. I just added some GORGEOUS drop earrings to the Style Notes of the February Style Vault - they're around $50! There are also some flat pale pink shoes in the Style Vault, too.
