Experience A Couture Fashion Show With Tina

Tina, here.

It's so funny what a lot of folks think I do all day. They imagine I wake up, probably work out with a personal trainer, enjoy a really healthy smoothie, go through my racks and racks of clothes having so much fun deciding what to wear, and then spend some focused time on my hair and makeup so I look worthy of calling myself a blogger, and then shop all day for clients and grab a table at a coffee shop to write some blogs later in the afternoon.

HA

Don't I wish. I think I even laughed out loud writing that and imagining my life like that.

Fact #1. I should spend more time on my hair and makeup.

Fact #2. On photo days, I'm more obsessed with my photographer's baby than I am with getting good photos.

Let me tell you the truth about my days on the job, and Barbara can back me up on this. Wake up. Pray. Coffee. Answer emails and phone calls. Get ready in 10 minutes, including my shower, and out the door for client appointments, eat when I can, write blog posts when I can, and have the best time ever because we're spending time with beautiful women whose lives we see improved merely because we spend some time together learning how to feel great in our own skin and with the body God gave us. But we do laugh a lot. And we do have a pretty serious job hazard - we come into contact with some really great finds. We love the hunt. I've decided my spirit animal is Diana the Huntress.

There are days when we get to do some cool stuff that feels awfully glamorous.

Like attending the Marchesa fashion show at Nordstrom. Our Nashville store is the only one in the country graced with the honor of hosting the designers and their beautiful Spring 2017 Collection.

One not cool thing is my photography. Sorry but my photographer was out of town, so be gentle. But oh my goodness the dresses and gowns were literally (and I mean that) breathtaking.

Marchesa is named after an Italian heiress, muse, and patroness of the arts in early 20th-century Europe, known for her eccentricities. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig established the house in 2004, and "Georgina’s draping and design paired with Keren’s textile creations" launched them to fame. Gabrielle Hurwitz of Style Me Pretty effuses, “When it comes to femininity and romance, no one does it like Marchesa. Whether it’s flirty cocktail dresses, ethereal gowns, dreamy wedding dresses or statement accessories, Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig continue season after season to create sartorial masterpieces any woman would be lucky to wear." Gabrielle is Editorial Director + Social Media Manager at Style Me Pretty. Btw, Gabrielle, is a really big deal. And she's my niece.

Keren is charming and lovely and had the kindest disposition, I must say. But what I really love is the little girl about to take in what may be her first ever fashion show and be forever spoiled for a dress made by a mere shop like Gap Kids.

The theme of the show was Dawn to Dusk. The fabrics and colors reflect the flow of light from sunrise to sundown, and let me tell you, I was completely transported into this world. This gown is an off-the-shoulder tea length cocktail number with a corseted bodice in soft mint tulle with 3D floral embroidery. It is at once magical and technical! The embroidery on these gowns is museum quality. Marchesa gowns start at about $800 and go upwards of $10,000.

Ugh I'm so sorry these pictures aren't better, but trust me I was fanning myself from the couture high, so my hands were unsteady. This ball gown is A-line with flutter sleeves in a blush illusion tulle covered in rose gold threadwork and crystal details. You can see these gown up close and in focus (and beautifully photographed) here.

I decided this was my favorite gown of the show. I truly felt like a was witnessing a woodland of fairies marching in a Fairy Parade. The models wore no makeup and had simple chignons and pranced on their fairy feet down what I was sure was a fairy dust runway leading to a castle made of twigs and ferns and moss. No, I really felt like that.

The nude sheer illusion tulle is some of the finest I have seen and felt. Their fabrics and treatments are second to none. I know I'm gushing but I think they sprinkled fairy dust on me too! This dress is a tiered silk fringe column with, get this, "horse artwork in soft pink and rose gold threadwork and crystal embroidery."

These gowns feature descriptions like, floral and wheat metallic embroidery, 3D feather flower details, horsehair details, antique silver and blue crystals. Can you even?

The models were as sweet as pie, too. They have practically been raised by Nashville's own Connie Cathcart-Richardson, co-founder of Nashville Fashion Week and lovingly referred to as the Team Mama of Nashville Fashion.

That's me with Connie. We had a lovely time. She is so much cooler than I am, and obvs more talented than I am at doing her makeup and hair. I could look so good if I had someone do my makeup and hair everyday, or better yet, I took the time to do my own properly. But aren't we all just living our fabulous lives, primp time or no primp time, and every now and then we get some fairy dust sprinkled on us.

We'll be posting some video from the show, too, so be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Best,

Tina (now taking applications for a Fairy Godmother)
